About the 2025 Kamchatka Earthquake and Tsunami

On July 29, 2025 at 23:25 UTC, a Mw 8.8 earthquake off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula (Russian Federation) triggered a significant tsunami in the Pacific Ocean. Ionospheric signatures can be seen across the Pacific. The earthquake's initial acoustic front can be seen on G027 (GPS59, E209, C007I, C220I) or QSPP (GPS69). The first tsunami gravity waves can be observed on JGD2 (GPS67, GPS74, starting at ~00:30). The tsunami wave passing around Hawai'i can be seen on KOKB, HAL1, HAL2, and MKEA (GPS44, GPS51, GPS53, GPS77, E202, E205, E216, E232).
