About the 2024 Gannon Geomagnetic Storm

The Gannon Geomagnetic Storm (in memory of Jennifer Gannon, a space weather physicist) was a series of powerful solar storms with extreme solar flares and geomagnetic storm components that occurred May 10-13, 2024 during solar cycle 25. The geomagnetic storm was the most powerful to affect Earth since March 1989, and produced aurorae at latitudes much closer to the equator than usually visible in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Users may observe a marked increase in the noise levels of TEC time series data from stations around the world on May 10-11, 2025.
